Island Living – Leisure Isle, Knysna | December 2017

Located in a prime holiday destination on Leisure Isle, Knysna, this five-bedroom family holiday home was designed with entertaining and family living in mind. The home’s layout and design focus on blending comfort, functionality, and style, creating a spacious retreat that enhances the relaxed beach house vibe.

To complement the coastal surroundings, we chose neutral tones as the base for the home’s decor, incorporating blues and greens to enhance the beach house theme. These colors were paired with various textures to add warmth and dimension to each room. This thoughtful design allowed the home to feel both light and airy while remaining inviting and comfortable for family and guests.

Flexible Bedroom Design

Each of the five bedrooms features two single beds, which can be joined together to form king-size beds, offering versatility for both couples and children. The custom-designed headboards are crafted to seamlessly fit together when the beds are combined, creating a cohesive and polished look. If single beds are preferred, the headboards can be easily separated, giving the bedrooms flexible functionality.

Open Plan Communal Area

The downstairs communal area consists of an open-plan kitchen, dining room, and lounge, designed to foster togetherness and easy flow. In this space, we used single sheer wave curtains for the windows, maintaining the light, airy feel while offering some privacy. For the bedrooms, we installed double curtain rails with blockout lining to provide full light control and ensure privacy when needed.

The home’s versatile bedroom layouts, combined with a light and relaxing color palette, allow it to seamlessly accommodate various guest needs and create an inviting environment for entertaining and relaxation.
